Mercedes-Benz BLUETEC car debuts in California

Wednesday, October 24th, 2007

Mercedes-Benz E320 BLUETEC is now available in California and this diesel-powered luxury car from the German automaker could be the answer for those strict emission norms set by numerous agencies in this sunny state as well as the 50 others in the United States.

After a year in the industry, the Mercedes-Benz E320 BLUETEC vehicles are now scattered all over the US. More motorists are becoming aware of the noxious gases, which includes Sulfur oxide, produced by engine combustion. Among the Mercedes-Benz Parts, the precision-engineered engine of the E320 is the highlight of the pro-environment car. Such engine allows a cleaner fuel burn to produce as much as 224-horsepower but with lesser harmful gases.

Nitrogen oxide is among the numerous harmful gases that come out of the exhaust tip. This kind of gas is very prevalent especially in gasoline-powered engines but are also present in diesel-powered ones. What the Mercedes-Benz E320 BLUETEC engine does is it does not allow air contaminants to get out. Similar to a catalytic converter, the engine is equipped with filters that traps in air contaminants like the Nitrogen oxide. The engine of this luxury car also gets additional aid from the two cat cons installed. These are just some of the reasons why Americans are lured into gearing up with a E320 BLUETEC car.

“Thanks to the highly favorable emission characteristics of this car, only minor technical adjustments were required to obtain type approval for the clean compression-ignition engine in California,” said Dr. Leopold Mikulic, who is the company’s vice president for Passenger Car Engine and Powertrain Development.

Just in time for the holidays, Mercedes-Benz will be coming out with the E300 BLUETEC. Moreover, the company is slated to release more models carrying the same environment-friendly auto parts in its system.

The e-logbook of Mercedes-Benz

Saturday, October 20th, 2007

Mercedes-Benz has taken the meaning of luxury up a notch as the German automaker promises to come out with the electronic log book system for its sleek cars in the CLS and E lines.

The e-log book christened as the Digital Service Booklet (DSB) will be made available extensively in all the models in the CLS and E lines. What exactly are the benefits of this high-end DSB for the Mercedes-Benz owners? Similar to normal logbook, this system will be able to store every car service details done to a CLS-class or an E-class vehicle. Moreover, the dealership concern will have to print out a hard copy of the details of the service and provide every time an owner’s copy. These hard copies containing important details will be kept in a folder provided by the dealership.

It is a different case, however, for those auto shops that do not necessarily carry the luxury German brand. These non-Mercedes-Benz establishments can still access the DSB via the Block Exemption Regulations but will only have certain details available. The full records of the customer cannot be viewed by these shops.

For the convenience of the Mercedes CLS or E-class owner, it is better to have the services done through a franchised shop to enjoy the benefits of the DSB e-log book.

Mercedes Benz E320 Bluetec

Mercedes-Benz has truly established its commitment in providing better products for its patrons. Just recently, the luxury company came out with high-performing yet environment-friendly car christened as the 2008 Mercedes-Benz E320 Bluetec. As a step to further entice motorists in using greener cars, like the Bluetec, the German automaker puts its new sedans for rent in California since yesterday.

The company did not give the official rate for these great find cars, but one could estimate monthly rental fee that ranges from $650 to $700, which is based in the lease fee of the Mercedes-Benz E350. Unlike the Benz 350, the latest green car offering of the company has a 3.2-liter engine that runs on diesel. With such precision-engineered auto part, this passenger car has lesser Nitrogen oxide and Carbon dioxide emissions compared to the Benz E350. In addition to its safer gas emission, the Benz E320 can burn more efficiently its fuel, which is around 20 to 40 percent, thus more horsepower is produced.

Since a full-time electric car cost a fortune, a motorist can go for renting the green Mercedes-Benz car. Such vehicle can answer the demands of certain states, like California, regarding the acceptable emission level of automobiles. Moreover, these German diesel sedans are the only vehicles at present that has met the allowable emission level being implemented in this western state.

“Mercedes-Benz has developed a diesel emission control system that results in a car as clean as comparable gasoline vehicles being sold here,” said Tom Cackette, who is the head of Air Resources Board of California.

Aside from the Bluetec technology in the E320, Mercedes-Benz’s is pushing for more improvements, which are geared in manufacturing greener cars, in their future vehicles. Specifically in the engine parts, the company plans to install the selective catalytic reduction or SCR to further keep the emission around the safe level.

The chauffeur sector has always been ruled by the three-pointed star automaker and this is actually the first time that a survey was made about the chauffeur industry. But in the days of more competition from Germany, it appears that the automaker has been able to keep its lead.

The chauffeurs’ favorite appears to be the E-Class Saloon range. The readers that were surveyed are operating or driving anything from a single vehicle to many hundreds of them. . Its outstanding diesel economy and passenger comfort seem to be the major causes why chauffeurs are buying the Mercedes-Benz E-Class.

The Chauffeur magazine is a dedicated trade magazine for the limousine and chauffeur industry. It was the one which conducted the survey over a 12-month period through its publication and its website. Those who participated in the survey gave information and details about the vehicles that they operated, what they think of the chauffeur industry and how they think a chauffeur should be treated by automakers when entering a showroom.

This survey will be published in the September issue of The Chauffeur magazine. The Mercedes-Benz class is close to automaker Rolls-Royce which is the second in the list. The German automaker was also delighted to know that its S-Class is the third most popular vehicle being operated.

The Strategic Account Manager for Mercedes-Benz, Adrian Freeman, commented saying, “The E-Class range is very popular to a wide range of customers, but we are especially proud to receive this accolade from the chauffeur sector. The business needs of these important clients are extremely demanding; they expect and need the very best. It is great to see that Mercedes-Benz and the E-Class delivers what they require. In fact, we have just launched a special E-Class Executive edition too, reinforcing our commitment to professional drivers.”

Other automakers are also among the top fifteen most popular such as Chrysler Voyager, Jaguar’s Jaguar XJ, BMW’s &-Series, and Audi’s A8.

Benz sales went up despite luxury cars sales’ downhill trend

Wednesday, August 22nd, 2007

Luxury cars may not be the favorite automobile choice of many Malaysians as these automobiles shrank 28 percent in sales, but the DaimlerChrsyler-produced Mercedes Benz still managed to sell more units that it did last year.

Over 1,700 Mercedes Benz units was sold in this non-lucrative market of Malaysia during the first six months or 14 percent more compared with the 2006 first half sales. Out of the total number of vehicles sold, the Mercedes Benz C-class line was hailed as the most improved with over 550 units. These C-class vehicle sales statistic was only during the first half of this year and had remarkably exceeded the 2006’s record. On the other hand, the upgraded Mercedes Benz E-class took the driver’s seat as it has the highest sales among the Benz models with over 650 units. Sales of the flagship S-Class more than doubled from last year with over 200 units sold, the B-Class, a compact sports tourer, saw sales close to 200 units, and almost 100 units of the A-Class were sold in the first six months of this year.

In this less than lucrative marketing scenario, we are pleased to have met or exceeded our target for the first half of this year and by bringing in new variants of products, we are confident to be able to continuously raise the sales performance in the local automotive premium segment,” said DaimlerChrysler Malaysia Sdn Bhd president and CEO, Peter Honegg.

DaimlerChrysler’s commercial vehicle arm, Mitsubishi FUSO, also reported better sales for the first half of 2007.

Mercedes Benz E300, the first BLUETEC sedan

Thursday, August 16th, 2007

The BLUETEC emission control will no longer be solely utilized by light, medium, and heavy duty trucks as the luxury brand Mercedes Benz has equipped its passenger cars with the same environment-friendly technology.

A cleaner and a fewer emissions have been achieved by the upgraded version of the sedan Mercedes Benz E300 after the BLUETEC was installed in its exhaust system. To date, the three-pointed star’s improved passenger car is the first non-heavy transport vehicle to be geared with such innovation. This four-door Mercedes Benz has a 3.0-liter V6 engine and has already performed better than expected as it registered only burning 7.3 liters of diesel per 100 kilometers. Not only does the BLUETEC limits the fuel used by the engine, but this technology has also helped reduce the harmful gases like nitrogen oxide and lower the Mercedes Benz E300 emission to safer and environment-friendly level.

Moreover, the BLUETEC complements the other remarkable Mercedes Benz exhaust parts such as the oxidation catalytic converter and SCR catalytic converter, in reducing noxious emissions or gases before these are released into the air.

Aside from the Mercedes Benz E300’s new parts, its transmission gearbox is also capable of an impressive 0 to100 mph in just under seven seconds. Moreover, the Mercedes Benz E300’s speed can shoot up the ceiling with 240 mph.

In the crusade of reducing harmful gases that can aggravate more the global warming condition, the BLUETEC will go full-blast in the exhaust systems of the heavy transport industry’s vehicles by January.
